Tigercat Introduces 610H Compact Grapple Skidder with 151 kW Engine
The new machine features a 1.39 square meter grapple and aims to provide a cost-effective solution for lower-volume timber harvesting operations.

New Machine for Targeted Timber Extraction
Tigercat Industries has released the 610H, a compact grapple skidder designed for specific timber extraction needs. This new model is positioned for contractors handling lower-volume harvesting operations or those focused on high-value selective felling.
The 610H offers a reduced capital cost when compared to Tigercat's existing 610H cable skidder and 620H grapple skidder models, making it a cost-effective choice for targeted applications.
Engine and Grapple Specifications
The 610H skidder is powered by a Tigercat FPT N6.7 engine, which delivers 151 kW (202 hp). This engine is paired with a hydrostatic driveline, specifically optimized to achieve a balance between operational speed and tractive effort in varying terrain.
The machine is equipped with a grapple that measures 1.39 square meters (15 square feet), suitable for efficiently managing timber loads within its intended operational scope.
Design for Durability and Operator Comfort
To enhance durability, the 610H incorporates axles that are sized similarly to those found on the larger 620H model. The operator's cabin features a simplified design compared to other H-series machines. Instead of Tigercat's signature 220-degree Turnaround seat, the 610H comes with a fixed-position seat angled at 30 degrees.
An optional two-position, mechanically actuated Turnaround seat is also available, providing flexibility while maintaining a focus on cost-effectiveness and operational efficiency.
Implications for Asian Timber Sourcing
For timber suppliers and forestry operations across Asia, the introduction of the Tigercat 610H provides a specialized option for managing smaller or high-value timber lots. Its design for lower volume extraction at a reduced capital cost could enable more efficient and precise harvesting in diverse forest conditions, which are common in regions like Southeast Asia.
This supports the raw material supply chain for regional building material manufacturers. Procurement teams sourcing timber or wood products should inquire with their suppliers about the types of harvesting equipment utilized, as this can influence both the cost and sustainability practices associated with their sourced materials.
