Karimoku Debuts "Oyado Mas" Exhibition

Japanese furniture brand Karimoku has launched "Oyado Mas," an exhibition of furniture and accessories from its Mas label, at the Karimoku Commons Tokyo showroom in the Aoyama neighborhood. Opened on 23 September 2026, the exhibition transforms the showroom into an environment designed to evoke a traditional Japanese inn, complete with a reception area and a guest room.

This presentation aims to offer visitors a sense of comfort by showcasing Mas products within a residential context, reflecting the brand's focus on contemporary Japanese living.

Featured Japanese Materials and Makers

The Mas brand, which specializes in products crafted from Japanese woods, provides the core furniture pieces for the exhibition. Complementing these, the display incorporates items from several other Japanese brands. These include lighting by New Light Pottery, washi paper by Nao Tesuki Washi, tableware from Sekisaka, candles by Sheep, and bedding by Sinso.

Many of these collaborators previously participated in Karimoku's Japanmade Vol 1 exhibition during Copenhagen design week's 3 Days of Design. This year, Mas has adopted "New Japanese Comfort" as its defining brand philosophy.

Experiential Showroom Design

Visitors to Oyado Mas enter through a noren, a traditional Japanese fabric divider. The initial area functions as an inn's reception, which also serves as a retail point for smaller exhibition pieces. This section includes a lounge furnished with Mas chairs.

The exhibition then progresses into a second space configured as a guestroom, featuring distinct bedroom and living room zones. This immersive design allows specifiers and buyers to see the furniture and accessories in a cohesive, functional setting rather than a conventional showroom layout.

Sourcing for Asian Projects

For procurement teams, architects, and interior designers across Asia, the "Oyado Mas" exhibition provides a tangible example of integrated Japanese FF&E solutions.

The focus on "New Japanese Comfort" and the use of Japanese woods by Mas, combined with specialized items from brands like New Light Pottery and Sinso, offers specific product categories for hospitality and high-end residential projects.

Buyers seeking authentic, coordinated Japanese design elements for furniture, lighting, and soft furnishings can directly evaluate these offerings for upcoming developments, ensuring material specifications align with a distinct aesthetic.
