Esoteric T-01 Turntable Ships September 2026 with Magnetic Drive System

Japanese audio component manufacturer Esoteric will begin worldwide shipping of its T-01 turntable by the end of September 2026. The unit features the company’s patented MagneDrive System, which uses magnetic induction for platter rotation to reduce vibration by eliminating mechanical contact and belts.

Magnetic Induction for Platter Rotation

Esoteric, a Japanese audio component manufacturer, introduces the T-01 turntable, which employs its patented MagneDrive System. This system uses magnetic induction to rotate the platter, physically separating it from the motor. This differs from traditional belt-driven or direct mechanical contact systems.

The MagneDrive System utilizes a Magnetic Driver with alternating magnetic poles and a soft-iron induction wheel around the aluminum platter’s lower edge. As the driver rotates, magnetic force synchronizes the wheel and platter motion without physical contact.

This design prevents motor vibration and rumble from transferring to the record, while maintaining stable rotational speeds for 33⅓ and 45 rpm playback. The T-01 is Esoteric’s second turntable to use this technology, following the Grandioso T1, which debuted in 2022.

Controlled Platter Motion and Chassis Design

The T-01 incorporates Esoteric’s Magne-Float platter technology, also inherited from the Grandioso T1. The aluminum platter weighs 13 kg, but magnetic force reduces its effective load on the spindle bearing to approximately 4 kg. This reduction in pressure decreases friction, allowing the platter to rotate more freely while retaining its actual mass inertia.

An inverted bearing positions the platter’s support point closer to the record surface, contributing to rotational stability. The turntable’s chassis is a triple-layer construction combining aluminum and wood, featuring a high-gloss piano-lacquered central section.

Esoteric has integrated the MagneDrive motor into the chassis, making installation simpler than its predecessor, and enclosed the motor in a vibration-absorbing case. Newly developed isolation feet, combining a spike, spike pad, and damper, further suppress external vibration and acoustic feedback. The main unit measures 539 mm wide with its supplied tonearm and weighs 35 kg.

Electronic Precision and Configuration Options

Precision for the T-01 is managed electronically through Esoteric’s Master Sound Discrete Clock motor driver, which regulates platter rotation. The unit can synchronize with an external 10MHz master clock, including Esoteric’s G-01XD and G-05 models. The main turntable and its power supply are housed in separate units to isolate the audio mechanism from power circuitry.

Rotational speed can be fine-tuned in 0.1% increments. The standard T-01 includes Esoteric’s static-balanced TA-9S tonearm, while the T-01 AL model is offered without one. The design allows for the fitting of as many as two tonearms through additional arm bases, providing configuration flexibility for users.

Implications for Asian Specifiers

Procurement directors for luxury residential projects or hospitality developments in Asia should note the worldwide shipping date of September 2026. The T-01's magnetic drive system and floating platter offer precise sound reproduction by minimizing vibration, a key specification for audio installations in sensitive environments.

Specifiers can consider the unit's capacity for up to two tonearms and external clock synchronization for customized high-fidelity audio systems. This product serves the market for specialized audio FF&E components where precise playback and advanced vibration control are critical requirements for project specifications.
