IHG expands Noted Collection in Japan

IHG Hotels & Resorts announced the introduction of its Noted Collection brand to Japan through the signing of two new hotel projects in Tokyo. These properties will collectively add 288 keys to the city's hospitality sector. One hotel, a 207-key conversion project, is scheduled for opening in 2027. The second, an 81-key new-build hotel, is planned to open in 2029.

This expansion marks the first time the Noted Collection brand will operate in Japan, signaling IHG's focus on the country's premium hotel segment. The developments are being undertaken with separate ownership partners.

Shinjuku conversion set for 2027

The inaugural Noted Collection property in Japan will be a 207-key conversion hotel situated in Tokyo's Shinjuku Kabukicho district. IHG has partnered with SC Capital Partners for this project. The hotel is currently undergoing renovation and rebranding, with its opening anticipated in 2027.

Designers are focused on creating a distinct identity that reflects Shinjuku's dynamic environment. Plans include a welcoming lobby space connected to a restaurant and café area, designed to encourage guest interaction. This property will be the first Noted Collection conversion in Japan.

Ginza new-build to open in 2029

A second Noted Collection hotel, an 81-key new-build, is scheduled to open in Tokyo's prestigious Ginza 8-chome district in 2029. This project is a collaboration with An Consulting and represents the first new-build Noted Collection hotel in Japan. Its prime location will also mark IHG's initial entry into the Ginza area.

The design will emphasize the area's sophistication, incorporating family-friendly suites and premium amenities. These facilities will include a restaurant, a bar, and a fitness center, catering to both leisure and business travelers.

Procurement needs for Tokyo hotel projects

The upcoming Noted Collection hotels in Shinjuku and Ginza will require a range of FF&E and interior finishes for their development and renovation. The 207-key Shinjuku conversion, opening in 2027, will need items for its lobby, restaurant, and café areas.

The 81-key Ginza new-build, opening in 2029, will source materials for family-friendly suites, a restaurant, bar, and fitness center. Procurement teams and specifiers interested in supplying these projects should monitor IHG's regional sourcing channels for upcoming requests for proposals (RFPs) as the 2027 and 2029 opening dates approach.
