The partnership had focused on advancing AI-driven solutions tailored for the wood-based panel sector, notably including the Prod-IQ SmartPress system, which previously received a positive market reception. Siempelkamp affirmed its commitment to digitalization and process optimization through AI, aiming to support manufacturers with advanced production technologies.

The original collaboration that led to these AI solutions commenced in March 2022. It brought together Siempelkamp’s expertise in industrial engineering with the AI capabilities of Smartech, a manufacturing technology company. The partnership evolved when Hexion, a global chemical company known for its adhesives, performance materials, and specialty resins, acquired Smartech in December 2024. Following the acquisition, the collaborative work continued under Hexion until its recent official termination.
