Egger Invests in Sinowolf Operations

The Egger Group, a global manufacturer of wood-based materials, is acquiring a 30% minority stake in Sinowolf, a Chinese producer of edgebanding products. This transaction, expected to close by November 2026, establishes a long-term partnership focused on developing their international edging business.

Sinowolf will maintain its independent management, brand, and organizational structure post-acquisition. The partnership aims to support the international expansion strategies of both companies. Michael Egger Jr, Egger's Chief Sales Officer, and Wilson Chu, Sinowolf's CEO, represent this strategic collaboration.

Sinowolf's Production and Market Reach

Founded in 2007, Sinowolf operates two manufacturing facilities in China: one in Zhaoqing, Guangdong, and another in Huzhou, Zhejiang. The company has an annual production capacity of 1 billion meters of edgebanding. Sinowolf's product range includes PVC, ABS, PP, and PMMA edgebanding, alongside digital printing and laser-edge technologies tailored for the furniture industry.

The company also exports its products to over 30 countries and is expanding its offerings to include surfacing materials, broadening its appeal to furniture and interior design sectors.

Strategic Expansion and Market Access

Egger's Chief Financial Officer, Thomas Leissing, stated that the global edging market offers significant development opportunities. This partnership combines Egger's expertise in decor, surfaces, wood-based materials, and its global market presence with Sinowolf's specialized edge manufacturing, digital printing, and laser-edge capabilities.

The collaboration is intended to strengthen Egger's international edging business and expand its manufacturing and regional capabilities, complementing its existing competence centers in Gebze, Türkiye, and Brilon, Germany. For Sinowolf, the agreement provides additional avenues for international growth.

What This Means for Specifiers

For procurement teams and specifiers in Asia, this partnership ensures continuity from Sinowolf, which will retain its product quality and service standards. Buyers can expect access to a combined expertise and expanded product portfolio for edgebanding, including PVC, ABS, PP, and PMMA options, along with advanced digital printing and laser-edge technologies.

The collaboration aims to strengthen local customer service and supply chain flexibility, potentially offering more diverse sourcing options for furniture and interior design projects across the region, with the transaction closing by November 2026.
