Shenzhen's Futian Lvzhou Primary School Completed

The Futian Lvzhou Primary School in Shenzhen, China, finished construction in 2024, as announced by lead architects CCDI Dongxiying Studio. Located in the Xinzhou area, south of Futian Central, the educational facility spans 35,985 square meters.

This project addresses the needs of a densely populated residential district known for its mix of commercial, residential, and urban village spaces. The campus design by CCDI Dongxiying Studio managed the site's high-density requirements and the proximity to Fuqiang Road, an urban trunk road generating notable noise.

Specialized Design Firms for Interiors and Facade

Detailed material specifications for the school’s interiors were handled by Shenzhen Zhuoyi Construction Decoration Engineering Co., Ltd. This firm oversaw the interior design elements throughout the 35,985 m² campus.

Concurrently, the facade engineering, specifically the curtain wall system, was developed by Fang Zhijiang and his team, which included Liu Zhipeng, Liu Yang, and Chen Wulin. Their work focused on managing the building envelope's performance, particularly in mitigating noise from the adjacent Fuqiang Road and optimizing the building's interaction with the urban environment.

Project Client and Supporting Disciplines

The Shenzhen Futian District Construction Works Authority commissioned the Futian Lvzhou Primary School project. Beyond the core architectural and interior design, several specialized teams contributed to the project's execution. Shenzhen Free Space Sign Co., Ltd was responsible for the signage design across the campus.

Other key contributors included teams for master planning, structural engineering, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) systems, cost estimation, and landscape design. This collaborative effort was essential for delivering a high-density campus within Shenzhen's urban context.

Specifying for High-Density Urban Campuses

For procurement teams and specifiers working on similar high-density educational or mixed-use projects in Asian cities, the Futian Lvzhou Primary School offers a case study in managing complex site conditions. When developing projects near major transport arteries, procurement must prioritize materials with tested acoustic performance ratings to mitigate noise intrusion.

Specifiers should request sound transmission class (STC) ratings for windows, curtain walls, and interior partitions, along with noise reduction coefficients (NRC) for interior finishes. This ensures that material selections directly address environmental challenges, providing functional and comfortable spaces within constrained urban footprints.
