St Regis Singapore Completes USD44 Million Project

The St Regis Singapore has finished a USD44 million renovation project, updating all 299 guestrooms and enhancing its event facilities. The transformation also introduced three new dining venues. FBEYE International, led by Founder and Creative Director Warren Foster-Brown, oversaw the redesign.

Foster-Brown was part of the original team that designed the hotel when it opened in 2008. The recent updates draw inspiration from the nearby Singapore Botanic Gardens, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This extensive refurbishment included the completion of the 335 square meter Presidential Suite.

Sustainable Materials and Smart Technology Features

The renovation incorporated specific material and technology upgrades aimed at sustainability and guest comfort. Guestrooms now feature eco-composite flooring, which contains up to 50% recycled material. Smart room technology includes motion sensors that activate blinds and air conditioning only when a room is occupied.

Additionally, in-room water taps provide both hot and ambient drinking water, removing the need for single-use plastic bottles. The hotel has also replaced disposable packaging with refillable, residential-sized bathroom amenities. These integrations reflect a focus on reducing environmental impact within the guest experience.

Enhanced Event Venues and Digital Displays

The hotel's 10 event venues, collectively offering over 14,000 square feet of space, also underwent significant refreshment. The John Jacob Ballroom now features two new LED walls, each measuring 9.6 meters by 5.29 meters, designed to support more immersive presentations. The foyer area has been updated with a new built-in bar, intended to improve pre-event cocktail receptions.

Caroline’s Mansion, an adjacent venue connected to the main building, offers a setting for smaller gatherings. This space was converted in 2019 from an indoor tennis court and can be divided into three smaller meeting rooms.

Procurement Focus: Sustainable Specifications

This refurbishment provides procurement teams across Asia's hospitality sector with specific examples of sustainable material and technology integration. For upcoming projects, procurement managers can actively seek flooring suppliers capable of providing products with a minimum of 50% recycled material, mirroring the eco-composite flooring used here.

Additionally, the adoption of smart room technology, including motion sensors for climate control and in-room water taps that remove single-use plastic bottles, demonstrates tangible ways to reduce operational waste. Specifiers can request these features for projects aiming to enhance environmental performance by 2027.
