Studio Valle de Valle Completes Vintage FF&E for Singapore Duplex
Studio Valle de Valle completed a residential duplex in Singapore, integrating a range of international and vintage FF&E pieces. The project, designed for a family relocating from New York, was managed remotely with local oversight.
Project Scope and Design Direction
Studio Valle de Valle, an AD100 design firm, completed a duplex residential project in Singapore for clients Bona Yoo and SangWook Lee. The family relocated from Manhattan in 2021 and sought to integrate elements of their previous lifestyle into their new home.
The chosen apartment occupies the top two levels of a centrally located building, featuring an expansive great room and mezzanine with curved ceilings. This architectural layout was selected for its resemblance to the clients’ former Tribeca loft, prioritizing ceiling height, character, and natural light.
The design approach combined specific international and vintage furnishings to create a distinct aesthetic within the Singapore context.
Detailed FF&E and Art Selections
The project's interior specification includes a diverse range of furniture and art. Key pieces specified by Studio Valle de Valle include Art Deco lounge chairs, a circa 1974 Oscar Niemeyer bench, and a Pierre Jeanneret chair. Lighting fixtures feature Josef Frank floor lamps and Giancarlo Valle sconces, alongside Josef Frank candleholders.
Seating arrangements incorporate a Giancarlo Valle sofa and a Vladimir Kagan sofa. The design also integrates a 17th-century Belgian tapestry and a vintage Märta Måås-Fjetterström rug. Art selections include works by Anastasia Bay, Shoji Asami, Alex Foxton, Michael Andersen & Sons, Elisabeth Vandeweghe, Joel Mesler, and Tracey Emin.
Collaboration and Material Integration
Execution of the Singapore duplex involved remote collaboration between Studio Valle de Valle, based in New York, and the clients on-site. Local project manager Iris Yeo oversaw construction, facilitating the integration of the design vision. Material specifications include marble for the primary bath, fitted with basins and fittings by Lefroy Brooks.
Curtains were fabricated using Décors Barbares fabric. The children's bath features a tiled tub inspired by George Nakashima designs. The clients, with backgrounds in architecture and art, contributed to the selection of specific furnishings and art pieces, which included a collection of vintage items they brought to the project.
