Jia Curated 2026 in Bali Showcases Sustainable Materials, Regional Design
The Jia Curated 2026 event, held in Bali from August 13-17, presented material innovations and collaborative design from over 250 brands. Jia Curated 2026 Highlights Biophilic and Local Sourcing
Jia Curated 2026 took place on Pengembak Beach in Sanur, Bali, from August 13-17. The event occupied 15,000 square meters on the eastern shoreline, featuring a "Nature Weave" theme. This focus integrated biophilic design principles with an emphasis on coexistence, natural light, planting, and organic materials in design and construction.
Over 250 brands participated, showcasing products developed with less extractive methods and local sourcing. The event, founded by Budiman Ong, Rudi Winata, and Yang Yang Hartono, also included a talks program, installations, live music, and food, positioning itself as a platform for commerce and creative exchange within the region.
Materials Innovation Features Recycled Plastics, Bio-Fibers
The showcase demonstrated various material innovations for interiors and FF&E. Wasted by Potato Head presented a chair made from recycled plastic, designed by Max Lamb. Bell Living Lab featured table and floor lamps constructed from coffee-waste leather.
The Tomorrow Pavilion, a collaboration between 11 young Filipino designers and 10 Philippine heritage manufacturers, included a wild mushroom-inspired piece by Jasser Aguila, fabricated from pineapple fibers. Ong Cen Kuang (OCK) Atelier debuted its Janur outdoor lighting collection, while Alami showed new table and floor lamps, with a chair developed in collaboration with Juno. These products reveal a shift toward bio-based and recycled content in furniture and lighting production.
Architectural Elements Built with Salt Bricks, Bamboo, Teak
Beyond finished products, the event also featured structural and architectural material applications. Oaken's Tiltroom, designed by Spatial Sonata, was constructed from salt bricks supplied by Tuscany Stone Boutique.
The Main Main Pavilion, built by Blancostudio in collaboration with Kalpa Taru Bali and Bali Landscape Company, utilized four raw teak slabs and custom game boards made from production offcuts, earning it the Best Exhibition Booth award. Project Benih was housed within BaleBio, a regenerative bamboo structure designed by Cave Urban.
The Architecture In Scale exhibition, curated by Charmaine Chan, displayed 25 models of completed buildings from Indonesia and across Asia, including Kengo Kuma's Tao temple building from Taiwan (2018).
