Singapore to Host IBEW 2026 with Focus on AI, Built Environment Sustainability
Singapore's International Built Environment Week (IBEW) 2026, scheduled for September 2–4, will address artificial intelligence adoption, environmental sustainability, and workforce development. The event, organized by BCA International and RX Singapore, gathers industry leaders to discuss emerging technologies and sector challenges.
Built Environment Week to Address AI and Sustainability
Singapore will host the International Built Environment Week (IBEW) from September 2–4, 2026. BCA International, a subsidiary of Singapore’s Building and Construction Authority (BCA), organizes the event in partnership with RX Singapore.
IBEW 2026 will focus on the adoption of artificial intelligence and digital technologies, environmental sustainability across the built environment lifecycle, and workforce and skills development.
Heng Teck Thai, Deputy Chief Executive of the BCA and Chair of the IBEW steering committee, stated that IBEW 2026 functions as a platform for industry leaders to share insights and plan for future sector demands, particularly regarding technological changes and sustainability requirements.
AI Integration Across the Built Environment Value Chain
A primary focus of the IBEW Conference 2026 will be the integration of AI throughout the built environment value chain, from initial design and engineering phases to construction, operations, and asset management. The program includes case studies, keynote presentations, and discussions on how organizations combine AI with digital, workforce, and sustainability strategies.
Specific topics include generative AI in design, planning, and project delivery, as well as AI-powered project management, predictive analytics, and risk mitigation. Robotics and autonomous technologies for worksites, along with digital twins and intelligent building operations, will also be covered.
Prof Phillip Bernstein, Deputy Dean and Professor in the Practice at Yale School of Architecture, noted that AI is changing building conception, design, and delivery, highlighting the opportunity to empower people to use these tools for improved industry outcomes.
Exhibitions Showcase New Technologies and Materials
IBEW 2026 will feature exhibitions, forums, and site visits designed to highlight innovation and skills development. BEX Asia 2026, part of IBEW, will host over 200 local and international exhibitors showcasing technologies, materials, and solutions for the built environment. This exhibition includes dedicated "Build with AI" and "Co-botics" showcases.
The BuildSG Pavilion at BEX Asia will present initiatives and case studies supporting Singapore’s built environment transformation. Additionally, the ConTech Exchange Pavilion (CTx) will demonstrate construction technologies, including generative AI workflows, autonomous robotics, real-time safety systems, and low-carbon materials.
"Curated Learning Journeys" will offer participants visits to developments and innovation precincts in Singapore, focusing on sustainable design, advanced construction, smart facilities management, and urban solutions.
