New Polish Production Hub

HOMAG, a German woodworking technology group and subsidiary of Dürr, officially opened a new production and engineering site in Środa Wielkopolska, Poland, on 8 October 2026. The facility spans approximately 50,000 square meters and represents an investment exceeding €50 million, making it one of the largest projects in the group's history.

This new complex consolidates HOMAG's Polish operations, which were previously spread across multiple buildings in the surrounding area, aiming to enhance efficiency across production, logistics, service, and administration functions. Construction for the site began in October 2024.

Integrated Facilities for Wood and Furniture

The 50,000 square meter complex integrates production, logistics, engineering, and customer facilities. It includes a dedicated production hall, an automated high-bay warehouse, and an office building. A key feature is the customer center, which houses a showroom designed for the wood and furniture industries.

This center demonstrates machinery with advanced automation and digitalization capabilities, while also providing training and consultancy services for customers across Eastern Europe.

The new site employs approximately 650 people, strengthening HOMAG's presence in a region described by HOMAG Chief Executive Dr. Daniel Schmitt as central to the European wood and furniture industry.

Broader Investment and Sustainable Design

The Polish investment is part of a larger, multi-year investment program by HOMAG, totaling over €200 million across its global operations.

Within this program, approximately €120 million has been allocated to new buildings and modernization initiatives at HOMAG's German sites, including upgrades to production and logistics facilities, office buildings, and a new customer center at its headquarters in Schopfloch. The new Środa Wielkopolska office building incorporates wood as a primary construction material.

The facility also features photovoltaic systems, heat recovery mechanisms, and an advanced building management system, all designed to improve energy efficiency, reduce operating costs, and lower emissions.

Implications for Asian Woodworking Suppliers

HOMAG's expanded capacity in Poland, a key manufacturing hub for European furniture, suggests increased output of woodworking machinery. This could benefit Asian furniture manufacturers and wood processing companies seeking to upgrade their production lines with advanced, automated equipment.

Suppliers in Asia, particularly those exporting to Europe or competing with European-made furniture, may find an opportunity to source more efficient machinery to meet evolving market demands for precision and speed.

Procurement teams for large-scale FF&E projects in Asia should monitor the availability and lead times for such equipment, which can impact the efficiency and cost-effectiveness of their own manufacturing partners.
