SCM Opens 550 sq m Technology Center in Austria

Italian machinery manufacturer SCM inaugurated its new Austrian premises in Ansfelden on 17 and 18 September this year. The facility includes expanded exhibition areas, a 550 sq m Technology Centre, and a dedicated training room for customers, operators, and partners. Christian Partoll, Mayor of Ansfelden, attended the ribbon-cutting ceremony.

SCM Austria, whose subsidiary began operations in 2019, also received the Julius Award from the Wirtschaftsbund Oberösterreich (Upper Austrian Economic League) for its market commitment. Thomas Pachler, Country Manager of SCM Austria, stated the new facility represents the next step in the company's growth, which has included expanding its local technical service team.

SCM Deutschland Marks 40 Years, Expands Nürtingen Facility

In Germany, SCM marked the 40th anniversary of its SCM Deutschland subsidiary on 23 and 24 September this year at its Technology Centre in Nürtingen. The company has been active in Germany through commercial partners since the 1960s and has exhibited at LIGNA since its first edition in 1975. SCM Deutschland was established in 1986 to create a direct market presence.

The Nürtingen site, which consolidated sales, showroom, spare parts, and technical service activities in 2003, saw its Technology Centre expanded and modernized in 2023. This upgrade increased its exhibition area to 1,200 sq m, representing a 60 percent increase in size.

DACH Strategy Focuses on Automation and Digital Services

SCM's commercial director, Gabriele Patti, affirmed that the company's local presence in the DACH region (Germany, Austria, Switzerland) is part of a wider development plan for its most strategic global markets.

Giovanni Masino, Managing Director of SCM Deutschland and DACH regional manager, highlighted the importance of cooperation across the DACH operations to share expertise and technical capabilities, especially for service to reduce machine downtime.

Pietro Gheller, Director of SCM Group’s wood division, emphasized a long-term approach focused on supporting the entire lifecycle of its solutions. SCM plans to grow its business in the DACH region by focusing on engineering, automation, software, and digital services.

Asian Manufacturers Can Request SCM’s Digital Service Roadmaps

Asian furniture and panel manufacturers can anticipate SCM's focus on engineering, automation, software, and digital services to extend to their markets.

Procurement teams in Asia should contact their local SCM representatives or distributors to request detailed roadmaps for these specific offerings, particularly regarding enhanced technical service and training for operators and partners.

This proactive engagement will allow them to understand how SCM’s expanded lifecycle support, as implemented in the DACH region, can be accessed to improve operational efficiency and machine uptime in their own facilities.
